Your spam filter has been created!

Windows Logo&MacAs of early this morning, 10/10, we have set up every CC email address with a spam filter (unless you told us that you don’t want one).

We use a 3rd party company called Postini for the filter, which we’ve found to be highly effective. In addition to receiving far less spam in your mailbox, this step should drastically improve performance on the email servers (since they will be processing far fewer messages), which will help avoid problems like the email delays we experienced last month.

Your spam filter has been turned on and will begin working immediately.

You can read more about Postini, as well as find instructions for logging in to change any of your settings or view blocked messages on the Help Desk website:

Keep in mind that your Postini login is separate from your regular CC username and password – the link above contains instructions for obtaining a username and password for logging into Postini.

Also of note, you will receive a notice every seven days if Postini has blocked any messages. When you get this message, you do not need to log in to “clear out” your postini mailbox. Blocked messages are held for a period of 2 weeks, and then automatically deleted from Postini – nothing in your Postini message center counts against your mailbox quota. The only time you should ever need to log in to your Postini message center is if you did not receive a message you were expecting, and suspect it may have been blocked.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and help us celebrate far less spam at Colorado College!
