Connect to wireless on your iPhone or iPod Touch
A quick note – you don’t need to connect to tigernet2 on your iPhone to get email and internet connectivity. In fact, we recommend that you don’t connect to tigernet2 and leave your WiFi off (this will greatly conserve battery life). If you’d still like to connect (or if you have an iPod Touch), here’s how:
In order to connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to our tigernet2 wireless connection, it must have the 2.0 software installed (the 3G phones have this by default, first generation phones will need to upgrade to 2.0 via iTunes, and iPod Touches will also need to upgrade).
To check if you have 2.0, touch the “Settings” button on the home page and then go into “General” and touch “About”:

Once you do, complete the wireless setup as follows.
1) Touch the “Settings” button:

2) Touch the “Not Connected” text in the Wi-Fi section:

3) Touch “Tigernet2″:

4) Enter your CC username and password (note that if you ever change this password, you will need to re-enter here for your wireless to work):

5) When prompted, touch “Accept” to accept the security certificate:

6) You will now see a checkmark next to “tigernet2″ signifying that you are connected. However, your job is not done yet! At this point, like your computer, your iPhone is in the registration range and will not actually be able to browse to any websites or set up email until we get it registered. Touch the small settings arrow next to tigernet2:

You’ll notice that the IP address will be 172.x.15.x – the “15″ in the third set of numbers signifies that you are in the registration range. Later, you will come back here to verify that your IP address has changed to the production wireless network.
7) Unlike your computer, you cannot register your iPhone by yourself, so we’ll need you to send us the pertinent information. To find it, go back to the home screen, and then into “Settings” > “General” > “About”:

Once in this screen, write down the Wi-Fi Address.
To register, you can either give us a phone call with this address at the ready, or send us an email (HelpDesk@ColoradoCollege.edu) that looks something like this (feel free to copy / paste):
Dear Help Desk,
I would like to use my iPhone on the wireless network, and am asking for your help registering it. I’ve followed your online instructions, and here is the information you need:
MAC Address: 00:21:15:06:E9:78
Classification: Student (or employee, as the case may be)
First Name: John
Last Name: Doe
Contact (preferably cell phone): 719-555-5555
Physical Location: 1234 St. / Mathias rm 112 / Tutt Library rm 12
By the way, you all are awesome!
8) We’ll then get it registered and write back to you that it’s all set. At that point, you can double check and make sure that your IP address is no longer in the 172.x.15.x range.

At this point you’re done! Your iPhone or iPod Touch will now connect to the CC wireless. Note that you will need to repeat the registration process each year.
Now that you’re all set to connect to wireless, you can set your phone up to check your CC email via exchange.
