Colorado College supports wireless networking based upon the IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN standard using Cisco access points running encryption and LEAP Authentication. In order to connect your PC to the CC wireless network, TigerNet, it must meet the following minimum standards:
- PII 400MHz Processor
- 64MB Ram
- Windows 2000 or XP
GETTING STARTED
We recommend that you print these instructions or add to favorites/bookmark them.
Windows XP & 2000 users should make sure that they are logged onto their computer using an account that has administrator rights.

DRIVER INSTALLATION
1. Using your existing network connection, download the Dell TrueMobile WLAN Mini-PCI Card driver by clicking on the link below. Save the file to your desktop or another easily accessed area.

2. Double click on the driver icon. The Dell driver extraction program will open.

3. Click “Continue” to extract the driver.

4. Accept the default unzip location by clicking “OK.”

5. Click “Yes” to create the folder. The files will be extracted. You will be prompted when all of the files are unzipped successfully.

6. Click OK to continue. The TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card Setup program will open.

7. Click Next . The installation program will begin installing the driver.

8. During driver installation, you may get one or more of the following messages concerning newly found hardware:

9. In each of these cases click “Continue Anyway.” You should not experience the difficulties mentioned in the warning.
10. When the drivers have been installed, the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog will appear. Click “Finish” to close the installer.

WIRELESS NETWORK CONFIGURATION
1. Once the driver software is installed, you should have a new Wireless Card Utility icon in your System Tray, it looks like a graduated series of bars. Right click on the Wireless Card Utility icon and click “Open Utility.” If the icon does not appear in your System Tray, go to Start->Programs->Dell TrueMobile and click on the 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card Utility shortcut.

2. Make sure that “Enable Radio”, “Let this tool manage your wireless settings” and “Show wireless icon in systray” are checked. Click on “coloradocollege” in the available networks window, and then click “Configure.”

3. Make sure that the “Network name (SSID):” is “coloradocollege”. Click on the dropdown menu for “Network Authentication” and select “802.1X” from the list.

4. Your screen should then look like this (with 802.1X and WEP selected). If so, click on the Authentication tab to continue.

5. Click the dropdown menu for “EAP Method” and select “LEAP” from the list.
*NOTE: if you do not see LEAP on the list, go back to the Wireless Network Properties tab, and make sure that “802.1X” is selected for the “Network Authentication.”

6. With LEAP selected, type your username and password in the boxes provided. Note that you should type your username in the following format: “coloradocollege\yourusername” and then your password as normal. Once you’ve entered this information, click “OK”

7. coloradocollege should now be listed under “Preferred networks.” Click OK. Your computer will now connect to the wireless network.

8. The Wireless Card Setup icon will turn green, yellow or red, depending on your signal strength.

9. Registering the Network Card:
After you have installed the Dell Truemobile wireless adapter and configured the Utility, you must register the adapter’s Ethernet address (if you’ve already registered your wired connection, your wireless connection was registered at the same time so you don’t need to do this). Just open up your web browser and go to a website – you will be redirected to the registration page. Then follow the directions to register.
