Colorado College supports wireless networking based upon the IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN standard using Cisco access points running encryption and LEAP Authentication. In order to connect your PC to the CC wireless network, TigerNet, it must meet the following minimum standards:
- PII 400MHz Processor
- 64MB Ram
- Windows 2000 or XP
GETTING STARTED
We recommend that you print these instructions or add to favorites/bookmark them.
Windows XP & 2000 users should make sure that they are logged onto their computer using an account that has administrator rights.

DRIVER INSTALLATION
1. Using your existing network connection, download the appropriate driver by clicking on one of the link below. Save the file to your desktop or another easily accessed area.
Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 Driver
2. Double click on the driver icon. The Dell driver extraction program will open.

3. Click Continue to extract the driver.

4. Accept the default unzip location by clicking OK .

5. Click Yes to create the folder. The files will be extracted. You will be prompted when all of the files are unzipped successfully.

6. Click OK to continue.

7. The Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 WLAN drivers will be installed on your computer.

8. Once the drivers are installed you should see two new icons appear in your system tray.

WIRELESS NETWORK CONFIGURATION
Before configuring the wireless connection you must go to an area that has Wireless access. You should save or print out these instructions.
1. In order to join the wireless network, you must use the Intel PROSet utility to configure your wireless settings. To ensure that Windows itself is not doing this, right click on the computer icon with a red X through it.

2. Click on “View Available Wireless Networks”

3. The Wireless Network Connection will display. Click on the “Advanced…” button.

4. Ensure that the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings checkbox is Unchecked (empty). Then click OK.

5. This is the Intel PROSet utilities icon. To configure the wireless card, right click on the icon. (If you do not see this icon, you can also reach the Intel PROSet utility from the control panel (Start Menu > Control Panel > Intel PROSet utility).

6. Click on “Open Intel(R) PROSet.”

7. You should now see the status display for your wireless card. Click on the “Networks” tab.

8. Click the “Scan” button to begin configuring your wireless card.

9. You should see a list of one or more wireless network appear. Select coloradocollege and click the “Connect” button.

10. Select “Yes, create a profile for this network now.” and then click “OK.”

11. In Profile name, type coloradocollege (type the same thing in Network Name SSID) and then check (fill) the “Enable Cisco Client eXtensions” checkbox. Click “Next >” to continue.

12. Use the settings in the figure below.
a. Set Network Authentication to Open .
b. Set Data Encryption to WEP .
c. Uncheck(clear) the Set Manual Key checkbox if filled.
d. Check the 802.1x Enabled checkbox.
e. Change the Authentication Type: to LEAP .
f. Finally, click the “Configure>>” button to enter the LEAP settings.

13. In the Leap Settings dialog, enter your username as coloradocollege\username . You will need to enter your password twice, once in the Password box and then in the Confirm Password box. Finally, click the “Finish” button.

14. You should now connect to the wireless network. If you do not, select the coloradocollege profile and click “Connect.”

15. To confirm your connection, click on the “General” tab. You should see “Associated and Authenticated with coloradocollege.”

16. If you see Associated Not Authenticated with coloradocollege you may have not entered your password or username correctly. Click on the “Networks” tab. Choose the coloradocollege profile and click “Edit.” Now click on the “Security” tab and make sure that your settings, including your username and password are correct.
17. Registering the Network Card:
After you have installed the Intel Pro/wireless adapter and configured the Utility, you must register the adapter’s Ethernet address (if you’ve already registered your wired connection, your wireless connection was registered at the same time so you don’t need to do this). Just open up your web browser and go to a website – you will be redirected to the registration page. Then follow the directions to register.
