Purchasing Personal Computers and Peripherals

Click Here if you will be buying a computer for Colorado College, rather than one for you.

Colorado College buys its Windows-based computers from Dell and its Macs, of course, from Apple. Both companies provide discounts for CC students and staff making personal purchases. If you want to buy a Dell or Apple, just click either link below for Dell’s “Education Personal Purchase Program” or CC’s Apple Store:

Buy a Dell

PC Purchasing from Dell
To buy a Windows-based PC through Dell, we recommend configuring the system you want on Dell’s site and then calling with CC’s Member ID, US26876754, to get a 5-10% discount. (That discount, however, is normally included when you price a system online.) CC students, staff and faculty can call 1-888-987-3355 to speak to a Dell sales representative.

Macintosh Purchasing from Apple
To buy a Mac, click the link above to visit our customized Apple Store where you can receive up to 10% off if you are a Colorado College student, faculty or staff member.

You can also check with some local stores such as Voelker Research or MacSuperstore – both offer education discounts as well as additional discounts to CC community members.

What Options to Buy
Students using the College’s Residential Network (ResNet) should buy a computer with a network card, also called an Ethernet NIC. (Click Here for for more information about student computing.) If you are buying a laptop and want to use CC’s wireless network, you’ll need a wireless card that supports WPA2 security and PEAP authentication. (Click Here for Windows wireless setup information.) Macintosh computers running OS 10.3 or above can also use our wireless network. (Click Here for Mac wireless setup information.) Please call or email the Help Desk, (719) 389-6449, if you have any questions.

Service Options
Colorado College helps students connect their personal computers to the network, but ITS only provides full support for College-owned computers. If you have a personal computer at school or home and need help beyond connecting to the network, please see the Help Desk Referral List, comprised of College-affiliated individuals and business we recommend who provide fee-based services.
