E-Journaling
&
As a student at Colorado College, you may be asked to participate in “e-journaling” for a specific class. E-journaling is essentially a way to have an online, bulletin-board type conversation with your classmates and professor outside of the classroom.
To access the e-journal for your class, first log into our Outlook Web Access client just as if you were checking your CC email. Once you have it open, find “Public Folders” on the left-hand side and click on it to open the folders:
Left: Internet Explorer view; Right: Any other browser view (i.e., Firefox, Safari etc.)
Once you’ve opened the Public Folders view, then depending on the type of browser you are using do the following:
Expand “Academic Departments” find the department for the class you are taking and expand that folder, etc. until you find the folder you are supposed to post your e-journals in (the professor will tell you the name of the folder – it is generally the course number). For example:
Now, with the folder “AN250″ highlighted, it will probably ask you to log in (this way only those students in the class can access the contents of the folder).
Once you’ve logged in, you can either click the button (it will be in the same place as the “new email” button to create a new e-journal post, or you can select a current post and choose “post reply”) to submit a reply in that folder.
(note, there is also simply a “reply” button. If you choose this, it will email your reply to that specific person instead of posting it to the e-journal board).
Expand “Academic Departments” find the department for the class you are taking and expand that folder, etc. until you find the folder you are supposed to post your e-journals in (the professor will tell you the name of the folder – it is generally the course number). In this instance we’re opening the “Anthropology” folder and then the “Watkins” class folder by clicking on the folder names. For example:
Now, with the folder “AN250″ in view, it will probably ask you to log in (this way only those students in the class can access the contents of the folder) when you click on that folder.
Once you’ve logged in, you can either click the button (it will be in the same place as the “new email” button to create a new e-journal post, or you can select a current post and choose “post reply”) to submit a reply to that folder.
(note, there is also simply a “reply” button. If you choose this, it will email your reply to that specific person instead of posting it to the e-journal board).
