The Hub

|
|
The Hub is intended to be the best location on campus for students to work on projects. * 45″ LCD with inputs for up to 4 laptops
|
Location: Tutt Library basement downstairs from the Reference Desk and outside the Help Desk!
Hours: Same as normal Library hours. You do not need to reserve the space at this time. Just come on by or call first to ask us if it’s in use!
Instructions for using The Hub (also posted on the wall):
To use the PC press the 1 button (labeled PC) to switch to the correct input (it’s likely already set to 1). If nothing shows up on the screen, wiggle the mouse around to take the computer out of standby and the screen should show up. Log in and use the computer as you would any other CC computer on campus.
To use the Macintosh press the 2 button (labeled Mac) to switch to the correct input. If nothing shows up on the screen, wiggle the mouse around and the screen should show up. Log in and use the computer as you would any other Macintosh on campus.
NOTE: You should not have to turn anything on. Everything should already be on!
If either the PC or the Mac appear to not be working please inform the Help Desk and we will gladly help you out!
Connect one of the Blue VGA cables to your laptop and plug in the Ethernet cable if you need direct network access. After you have connected the cable and your computer is on, press the button on the switcher box embedded in the table which corresponds to the VGA cable that you connected to your computer. The screen on the wall should now reflect your laptop screen. If there are multiple laptops – up to four – they can all be connected at the same time. To switch between the different laptops all you need to do is press the button on the table according to the VGA cable that is connected to that laptop.
If nothing appears you may need to switch the output on your laptop to display on the giant screen. The method differs from computer to computer. On most Dells you press the “fn” key and then one of the Function keys (”F8″ for example, – usually also labled with “crt/lcd” on the key…). On Macintosh laptops this is similar – “fn” key and the Function key “F7″ (which usually has a picture of two squares overlapping each other). For mac laptops, we have VGA adapters available for checkout at the Help Desk.
Again this system can have up to FOUR separate laptops connected at the same time!
If you have any issues please let the Help Desk know!
