Your CC Webspace

& As part of your CC account, you get a space on the campus web server to create your own web site hosted at Colorado College.

You are allocated 50 MB of space for this purpose.

Before you can start using your (W:) drive, you must first Agree to the Student Web Policy and decide if you would like to list your site in our directory or not. NOTE: If you receive a message stating an issue with a certificate, select to accept it and you will be sent to the log-in page. Once you’ve gone through this process, your (W:) drive will be created and you can map to it like any other network drive (Click Here for more information about mapping network drives).

The main difference between this drive and other network drives, such as your (H:) drive, is that whatever you put on your (W:) drive will be published to the web at the following address: http://studentwebs.coloradocollege.edu/~your_username

To map your (W:) for use (On a PC):

  1. Make sure that all programs are either closed or minimized.
  2. Right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
  3. In the menu that appears, left-click on Map Network Drive.
  4. In the next window, there will be two white boxes. In the first box, labeled Drive, select the drive letter that you want to assign to the network folder that you are mapping (i.e., W:).
  5. In the second box, labeled Path or Folder, type in the address of the network folder you are mapping (\\fileserver1\web\~your_username). Don’t forget the “~” mark before your username!
  6. Check or un-check the Reconnect at logon box, depending on your preference. If you are not always connected to the CC network, we recommend un-checking that box – you don’t want to be reminded every time you log on that you aren’t connected to the network.
  7. Click OK or Finish.
  8. If prompted for a username and password (all XP Home Edition users will be, for example), you are not already logged into the COLORADOCOLLEGE domain. To do so, in the Username field, type “coloradocollege\your_username,” and then type your password into the Password box.

To map your (W:) for use (On a Mac):

  1. Make sure that all programs are either closed or minimized.
  2. On the Desktop menu, click on the Go menu and choose Connect to Server.
  3. The Connect To Server window will now open. (The layout of this window varies depending on which version of Mac OS X you have.) In the Server Address line, type the “Samba” share address of the network folder you are mapping. The proper format for Samba is “smb://servername/foldername” (i.e., smb://fileserver1.coloradocollege.edu/web/~username). If you wish, you can click the + sign at the end of the line to add the drive to your favorites list. Then click Connect.
  4. When prompted for Domain, Username, and Password type “COLORADOCOLLEGE” in the Domain field, and use your CC username and password. Click OK.
  5. After a moment, the volume will appear as a “mounted drive” on your desktop. That’s it!
