Adding Network Printers on Windows XP (Students)
Colorado College makes its lab printers available on the network for anyone’s use. You can even print to a lab printer from a dorm room. Please be aware of where you are printing, however. The College wastes thousands of pages of paper every Block, and it is up to each of us to conserve our resources. To set up a printer on Windows XP:
- Go to the Start Menu, then click Control Panel.

- Find Printers and Faxes in the list, and double-click it.

- Click the Add a printer link at the left side. When the welcome screen appears, click Next.

- When asked if your printer is a local or network printer, select Network printer. (A local printer is one plugged directly into the back of your computer with a USB or printer cable. A network printer is one plugged into a wall jack with a network cord.)

- At the next window, select the button for Connect to this printer, and then you need to type in the printer path. A list of commonly used printer paths can be found below.
Click next when you have entered the full printer path.

- Type in your username and password in the box that comes up. Your username should be in the form of “coloradocollege\your_username”, and the password is the one you use to log onto lab machines or email. Be sure to check the box to remember your password, and click OK when finished.

- A prompt will come up asking whether you want to install the printer driver. Click Yes to continue.

- Choose whether you want that printer to be your default, and click Next.

- At the summary screen, make sure the information is correct, and click Finish. The printer will now show up in your printer list.
