Add Important CC Dates

How to add important dates for the academic year at CC (such as the beginning and end dates for each block, honors convocation, day to submit time sheet, pay day, winter break, etc.). If you would like these updates on your Outlook calendar, follow these instructions:

Note: You must be connected to the campus network to do this (or at home with VPN).

1) To find which version of Outlook you are using go to: “Help” and select “About Microsoft Office Outlook”.

2) The very fist line of the window that comes up will tell you which version of Outlook you are currently using – make note of this for later in the instructions.

3) Exit out of Outlook.

4) Right Click the “My Computer” icon and select “Map Network Drive…”:

5) Select any open drive letter from the dropdown list, and type “\\student1\shareware” in the “folder” field. Clear the “Reconnect at logon” checkbox, and then click “Finish”:

6) Open “PcShareware” and then “OutlookHolidays.” You’ll see a few different files in there. Double click the “Outlook2003.bat” file if you have Outlook 2003 (most people) or one of the other two .bat files if you have those versions:

You’ll see a small black window pop up for less than a second (after you see this, proceed to the next step):

7) Open Outlook, and then go to the “Tools” menu and select “Options”:

8) In the “Preferences” tab, click “Calendar Options”:

9) In the Calendar Options window, click “Add Holidays”

10) UNcheck “United States” unless you need to get the updated US Holidays (Outlook 2000, or if you didn’t do this last year in Outlook 2003), and then scroll up to “Colorado College 09-10″:

Important Note: If you ONLY want the CC events and not the US holidays, make sure to UNcheck “United States” before scrolling up to select “colorado college 09-10.”  An example of why you might want to do this is if you already have updated holidays from last year or if you have Outlook 2007, leaving US holidays checked will create duplicates on your calendar.  If you are unsure, we recommend UNchecking “United States.”

11) Click the checkbox to select “Colorado College 09-10″ and then click “OK”:

12) The Colorado College events will import. OR you will see a box saying that holidays already exist for Colorado College and asking if you want to install them again. Click “Yes” (this will install the CC events from July 2009- June 2010.  If you already have those dates, click “no” so that you don’t get duplicates). Once it is finished, click the “OK” button twice to exit out of Outlook’s Options:

That’s it! Your calendar will now have important CC dates for the ‘09-’10 academic year.
