Connecting from off campus using Outlook and HTTP

Microsoft makes three types of Outlook: Outlook the full program; Outlook Express (a free and less capable program than Outlook); and Outlook Web Access, the “Check E-Mail” link available on the Colorado College home page.

Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and Outlook Express must be separately installed on your computer, but Outlook Web Access is automatically available from any computer with Internet access. If you have Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 loaded on your computer, you need to set up an email profile in order to check your email. This profile tells Outlook whose email to load, what customized settings it has, and where to find it. If others want to check email at your computer, you can set up multiple profiles and have Outlook ask at the beginning which profile to use.

Outlook 2003 & 2007 support Exchange over HTTP - which will allow you direct access to Outlook as if you were using it from on campus without having to go through VPN. These are the only versions of Outlook which will allow you to do this. You cannot configure Outlook 2000 or Express to connect in this manner.

Please select your version of Outlook:
