Forward your CC E-mail to another account
| If you want your CC email to automatically go to another address, here’s how to make that happen. We recommend the first method if your Colorado College account will soon be deleted, since it can warn people to use your new address in the future. The second method will forward your email without notifying the sender of your new address. For either method, the full version of Microsoft Outlook is required, which is available on the student computer labs if you don’t have it on your computer.
Method 1: Out of Office Assistant
To use the Out of Office Assistant, in Outlook, go to the Tools menu and select “Out of Office Assistant.” Click the button saying you are currently out of the office. You may want to add a message in the AutoReply box indicating your new email address. (The Out of Office Assistant will send an auto-reply to the sender whether you place anything in this box or not. If you don’t want to send auto-replies, use Method 2 described below.) Now click the Add Rule button near the bottom left of the box. In the following box, check “Delete” so that emails won’t build up in your CC mailbox. Then check “Forward” and put your new email address in the box provided. Click OK until you are back to the Inbox, and your emails will be forwarded to your new address.
Method 2: The Rules Wizard
The second forwarding method involves the Rules Wizard, which can be accessed by going to the Outlook Tools menu and clicking “Rules Wizard.” Click the “New…” button. Now highlight “Check messages when they arrive” and click the Next button. Don’t check anything under "Which condition(s)," and click Next. Choose Yes to apply this rule to all messages received. Next, under "What do you want to do," check "redirect it to people or a distribution list" and then check “delete it.” In the lower box, click "people or distribution list," and a new box will appear. Type your new email address in the white area to the right under “Specify whom to forward messages.” Then click OK. At the next box you can set any forwarding exceptions you might desire. Finally, name the new forwarding rule and click the Finish button.
