How to configure automatic updates on your Windows 2000 computer


It’s important to configure your computer to automatically download and install critical updates on your computer to ensure you have the latest protection against potentially harmful worms and viruses. It’s easy to configure and you can schedule the updates to run while you’re sleeping so it doesn’t interfere with your use of the computer.

First, click the "Start" menu and select "Run":

Type "Control Panel" and click "OK":

Double click "Automatic Updates":

Configure Windows to automatically download and install updates at a specified time (as the example lists). Note that on your computer, this section will not be "grayed out". Once you’re done, just click "OK":
