Run a full virus scan on your computer using Symantec AntiVirus
|
This page is designed to help you run a full virus scan on your computer using Symantec AntiVirus for Windows.
First, open Symantec AntiVirus by double clicking the yellow shield icon in your systray (next to the clock in the lower right corner of your screen) If you do not see the shield, navigate to the program by going to Start > All Programs > Symantec Client Security > Symantec AntiVirus:

Once Symantec AntiVirus is open, select "Scan Computer", put a check into Local Disk (C:) and any other local disks you may have, and then click Scan:

The following window will pop up and show you the progress of the scan. Depending on how many files are on your computer, the scan will take approximately 30 minutes.

*If Symantec is not able to quarantine or delete some items, it will mark them as Left Alone. If this happens, you should restart your computer in Safe Mode and re-run the scan. For instructions on restarting your computer in Safe Mode, please Click Here.
